Senior Automation QA Engineer

Svitla Systems Inc. seeks a Senior Automation QA Engineer for a full-time hybrid role in Poland. The client is one of the world's largest food retailers, focusing on building reliable, scalable, and high-quality web, mobile, and API products.

• 6+ years of experience as an Automation QA Engineer.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies focused on backend testing across Java/Kotlin microservices and APIs, plus frontend test automation.
• Ability to quickly learn and understand business requirements and domain.
• Hands-on experience with backend testing frameworks such as REST Assured and Karate.
• Understanding of frontend testing with Playwright, familiarity with Selenium and BDD framework (Cucumber).
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and pipelines, especially GitHub Actions.
• Solid understanding of HTTP protocols, RESTful APIs, eventing, using tools like Postman, Bruno, or Insomnia.
• Familiarity with service mocking and contract testing tools like WireMock, Pact.

Nice to have:

• Experience building and maintaining testing environments.

• Collaborate during refinement sessions to influence requirements and define test strategies for backend services, APIs, and frontend journeys.
• Design, develop, and execute functional, regression, end-to-end API, and customer journey tests.
• Automate service-level tests using frameworks such as REST Assured, JUnit, Karate DSL, Postman, Newman, Bruno.
• Conduct frontend/UI testing primarily using Playwright; knowledge of Selenium and Cucumber is beneficial.
• Validate service interactions and data flows across distributed systems.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions and maintain test environments.
• Prepare and present test reports documenting coverage, results, and defects.
• Participate in code reviews of test automation scripts.
• Manage test cases and cycles using Jira Zephyr.
• Define and implement a robust automated backend testing framework focusing on Java/Kotlin services.
• Ensure test coverage across backend, frontend user journeys, and external service integrations.
• Utilize AI-supported tools to enhance test design, execution, and maintenance.
• Align with company's established AQA practices for consistency across teams.
