Information Security SOC Analyst (24/7)

The SOC (Security Operations Center) provides 24/7 security operations monitoring and support for BTC customers and subsidiaries, focusing on the German Energy Sector. The role involves collaboration to protect critical systems impacting millions of people and aims to boost the technical, architectural, and system skills of the employee. Frequent interaction with Security, IT Operations, and Engineering teams is expected.

• Minimum 4 years of experience in Information Systems or IT security-related functions.
• Solid understanding of network and computer security, security testing, and software security.
• Knowledge of networks, firewalls, and operating systems.
• Ability to provide technical advice on security issues to management and specialists.
• Strong analytical skills to collect and interpret data from various sources.
• Experience detecting and responding to cybersecurity incidents.
• Over 2 years of experience monitoring and analyzing security events within IT infrastructure.
• Experience with SIEM systems, big data, SOAR platforms, and automation.
• Background in IT/Systems with cloud providers AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Extensive knowledge of current security threats and techniques.
• Dedication to research and learning about information security and incident response.
• Experience with Windows and *nix platforms.
• Scripting skills including Bash, Python, and PowerShell considered a plus.
• Strong analytical and critical observation skills.
• Willingness to follow SOC processes while thinking creatively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative and team-focused.
• Ability to categorize and prioritize tasks.

• Conduct proactive monitoring, investigations, and mitigation of security events.
• Analyze security event data from SIEM, dashboards, and log sources.
• Understand and engage with the environment and various teams to gain knowledge.
• Recognize intrusion attempts through event data review and analysis.
• Research new and evolving threats impacting the monitored environments.
• Triage, investigate, and escalate alerts in Windows and Linux environments.
• Pull data from multiple sources including endpoint protection, internal data feeds, threat intelligence, and phishing protection.
• Collaborate with internal security teams for knowledge sharing and training.
• Participate in internal and external training on technologies, incident response, and security topics.
• Recommend changes to standard operating procedures and documentation.
• Respond to computer security incidents by collecting, analyzing, and preserving digital evidence.
• Analyze alerts from correlation and alerting tools and provide feedback.
• Review SOC dashboards for anomalous activities.
• Analyze complex or unusual incidents and ensure correct escalation paths.
