Senior Software Engineer, AI Retrieval

The AI Retrieval team at Asana powers intelligence behind AI features by finding relevant work graph content for LLM context windows, enhancing understanding and action capabilities within and outside of Asana. The team also manages Asana's traditional search experience.

• 6+ years of production coding experience
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making
• Hands-on experience with search engineering using OpenSearch or ElasticSearch
• Experience with embeddings and machine learning methods for search and retrieval
• Applied AI experience is a plus

• Reduce latency and cost of retrieval systems to enhance speed and efficiency of AI features
• Improve quality and relevance of search results
• Expand system capabilities to query new Asana objects and third-party data sources
• Build and optimize search infrastructure using OpenSearch/ElasticSearch
• Contribute to ML-powered features like embeddings-based retrieval and semantic search
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners in New York City and peers in Warsaw
