Staff Applied AI Engineer (Search & RAG)

Asana is a leading platform for human and AI collaboration with 13+ offices worldwide, including one in Warsaw. The AI Retrieval team powers Asana's AI features by finding relevant content and delivering it to LLM context windows, managing both AI-centric search and traditional search experiences. The company offers a Contract of Employment (UoP) in Poland and maintains an office-centric hybrid work schedule with specific in-office days.

• 6+ years of production coding experience
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies with a willingness to learn
• Hands-on experience in search engineering, including OpenSearch or ElasticSearch
• Experience with embeddings and machine learning approaches to search and retrieval
• Experience in an Applied AI role is a plus

• Reduce latency and cost of the retrieval system to enhance AI feature performance
• Improve quality and relevance of search results
• Expand retrieval system to query new Asana objects and third-party data sources
• Build and optimize search infrastructure using OpenSearch/ElasticSearch
• Contribute to ML-powered features such as embeddings-based retrieval and semantic search
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in New York City and Warsaw
