NLP / Machine Learning Engineer (Financial Text AI)

Hiretop is an innovative Danish startup building AI-powered technology that transforms complex financial documents into structured, production-ready data used in real-world applications. The team develops specialized NLP models to extract financial events from thousands of documents daily. This is a small, highly technical team where engineers own problems end-to-end.

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or related field or equivalent research/industry experience in NLP or ML
• Experience training and deploying transformer-based NLP models, especially for NER or structured extraction
• Strong Python skills with experience in PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, and Pydantic
• Experience with large-scale data pipelines and building reproducible workflows
• Familiarity with cloud ML infrastructure (GCP, Azure, AWS)
• Comfortable with Docker for packaging and deploying ML workloads
• Focus on data quality affecting model quality
• Pragmatic engineering approach to shipping working systems

Nice to have:

• Experience with ONNX Runtime optimization (quantization, OpenVINO, hardware-specific compilation)
• Experience with spaCy, LightGBM, or classical NLP/ML tools
• Familiarity with financial texts, equities analysis, research, or trading
• Experience building internal tools to accelerate team velocity

• Train and iterate on models for NER on financial text
• Build and maintain data pipelines including database sampling, preprocessing, and training data assembly
• Design label refinement workflows
• Optimize models for production inference via ONNX export, quantization, and runtime tuning
• Build Streamlit tools for model inspection, error analysis, and annotation review
• Work across the full stack: label guidelines for labelers, Hydra-based training configs, evaluation metrics, and deployment
