Senior Staff Software Engineer, Core Experiences

The role is based in Warsaw and partners closely with their Redwood City site, supporting backend and frontend engineering in the Core Experience organization.

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience across backend and frontend.
• 5+ years leading complex, cross-team technical initiatives.
• Ability to operate at both high-level architecture and low-level execution.
• Proven track record designing and shipping distributed systems at scale.
• Hands-on experience breaking monoliths into service-oriented or modular architectures.
• Strong experience driving continuous integration, CD, and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) and integrating them into team workflows.
• Experience designing or building LLM-powered agents for engineering use cases.
• Familiarity with modern AI/agent frameworks, prompt engineering, evaluation, and safe AI deployment in production.
• Experience aligning cross-functional and cross-site stakeholders around architecture decisions.
• Pragmatic decision-making balancing ideal design with real-world constraints.
• Passionate about mentoring and building engineering culture.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Comfortable working in hybrid, globally distributed environment with travel to the U.S. at least twice a year.

• Lead the effort to break backend and frontend systems out of the monolith into modular, maintainable architectures.
• Drive adoption of continuous integration and DevOps best practices across the organization.
• Roll out AI-assisted engineering practices across Core Experiences, embedding AI into coding, review, and operational workflows.
• Design and ship AI agents supporting the software development lifecycle, demonstrating measurable productivity gains.
• Define tooling, workflows, and architectural patterns for product development shared across sites.
• Set up frameworks for effective cross-site, cross-functional collaboration between backend and frontend engineers.
• Balance rapid delivery with long-term technical investments ensuring scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Own architecture of key backend and frontend systems.
• Lead implementation of high-impact components end-to-end.
• Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and observable from day one.
• Partner with teams in Warsaw and Redwood City to translate architecture into working systems.
• Lead delivery of large, cross-team initiatives with measurable business impact.
• Establish patterns, frameworks, and standards enabling faster team delivery.
• Translate business priorities into technical roadmaps.
• Identify risks early and guide teams toward pragmatic solutions.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers in system design and effective AI use in engineering.
• Collaborate across geographies and functions to align on architecture and execution.
• Evaluate and integrate AI tooling such as Cursor, Claude Code, and internal Box AI capabilities into development workflows.
• Measure and continuously improve developer productivity and code quality through AI-driven workflows.

• Role location: Warsaw-based with in-office requirement 3 days per week (Tuesdays–Thursdays).
• Comfortable working in a hybrid, globally distributed environment.
• Must be able to travel to the U.S. at least twice per year for team off-sites.
• Individual contributor role, director-equivalent level.
