Software Engineer II, Backend (Furnishing Platform)

Affirm is a company reinventing credit to be more honest and friendly, providing consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. The role is part of the Furnishing Platform team, focusing on building scalable systems and data pipelines to power consumer credit reporting, supporting accurate and timely data delivery to Consumer Reporting Agencies.

• Minimum of 1.5 years experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in either Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Spark.
• Ability to translate business scenarios into solutions involving multiple software components with clean, well-tested, extensible code.
• Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging code, and providing code review feedback.
• Ownership of personal growth with proactive feedback seeking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective global team collaboration.

• Break down larger projects into tasks, deliver in phases, and collaborate to ensure timely delivery.
• Support product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions.
• Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and contributing to on-call efforts.
• Engage in team growth activities such as participation in the interview process.
