Data Engineer (Junior/Mid)

Falck's Data, Insights & AI department combines experts in data engineering, analytics, AI, automation, and business partnering to support a global healthcare and emergency services organisation. The department has 60+ professionals in Copenhagen and Warsaw hubs and builds reliable and scalable data and AI solutions. The role is part of the mission-critical Data Platform team providing shared standards and frameworks to accelerate delivery across the organization.

• Experience in data engineering with ability to work independently on routine data engineering tasks.
• Experience handling more complex tasks with guidance from senior team members.
• Familiarity with implementing AI solutions and creating applications for AI use cases is a plus.
• Proficiency with Azure, Databricks, PySpark, Python, and SQL.
• Ability to build and maintain data pipelines for common data sources.
• Good understanding of data modeling concepts and their practical application.
• Comfortable using CI/CD pipelines for deployment and pragmatic troubleshooting approach.
• Good communication skills in English.

• Design, build, and maintain core data pipelines and reusable frameworks using PySpark, Python, and SQL on the Databricks platform.
• Develop foundational platform components enabling other teams to build data solutions more reliably.
• Integrate a wide variety of data sources into the platform in a standardized and scalable way.
• Take ownership of code quality by writing unit tests, performing peer code reviews, and contributing to technical documentation.
• Investigate and resolve bugs and performance issues in core platform components, with support from senior engineers as needed.
• Contribute to team-level standards for code, templates, and infrastructure to improve platform robustness.
• Optimize data processing tasks using core components like Databricks and PySpark.
• Use CI/CD pipelines to deploy platform services to the Azure cloud and troubleshoot pipeline failures independently.
• Collaborate daily with platform team engineers and other teams using your frameworks.
• Advise junior team members on standard technical issues and assist with onboarding.
• Seek and incorporate feedback from seniors and peers to drive learning and professional development.
