Senior Cost Engineer (k/m)

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor responsible for the design of the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant and the construction of the entire facility in Poland.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (or international equivalent) with at least 10+ years of professional experience, or a high school diploma with at least 14+ years of relevant experience.
• Skilled in oral and written communication.
• Advanced proficiency in PC operating systems and Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Advanced understanding of Project Controls technical skills.
• Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and material reporting.
• Ability to prepare and review products independently with minimal supervision using professional judgment related to engineering design and construction practices.
• Skill in identifying and analyzing issues and recommending corrective actions.
• Ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.
• Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and changing priorities.

• Responsible for cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or which require a high degree of technical skill.
• Develops and implements project requirements for cost control according to Bechtel and client contractual requirements.
• Ensures work is completed on schedule and supports project organizational and administrative activities.
• Reviews cost trends for effectiveness and suggests alternatives.
• Maintains communication with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control.
• Leads engagement with Bechtel management and client leadership presenting cost positions, risks, and strategic recommendations.
• Owns preparation and delivery of executive-level cost reporting ensuring clarity and alignment with project objectives.
• Leads development and execution of cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
• Validates study outcomes and provides recommendations to senior project leadership.
• Directs cost and performance analysis integrating scope, quantities, productivity, and financial data to identify key cost drivers and risks.
• Manages creation and implementation of measurement systems for established processes and identifies improvements.
• Oversees and approves development of trend cost estimates ensuring alignment with project baseline and risk profile.
• Establishes format and content of summaries and reconciliations including cost segregation by confidence and risk.
• Leads advanced cost analytics to identify systemic risks, performance gaps, and optimization opportunities providing actionable recommendations.
• Establishes and validates productivity assumptions and benchmarks with Construction.
• Provides senior oversight and approval of estimates ensuring technical validity, completeness, and alignment with project strategy and commercial conditions.
