Data Engineer

Dropbox is hiring a Data Engineer to join the Analytics Data Engineering (ADE) team within Data Science & AI Platform. The role involves building large, scalable analytics pipelines with the latest Big Data technologies from the ground up.

• 5+ years of development experience in Spark, Python, Java, C++, or Scala
• 5+ years of SQL experience
• 5+ years of experience with schema design, dimensional data modeling, and medallion architectures
• Experience working with the Databricks platform and data lake architectures for large-scale data processing and analytics
• Strong product strategic thinking and communication skills to influence product and cross-functional teams
• BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems

• Define company data assets (data model), create Spark and SparkSQL jobs to populate data models
• Define and design data integrations and data quality frameworks; evaluate open source/vendor tools for data lineage
• Collaborate with business units and engineering teams to develop long-term Data Platform architecture strategies for efficiency, reliability, and scalability
• Conceptualize and own data architecture for multiple large-scale projects, assessing design and operational costs
• Work with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and represent key insights meaningfully
• Design, build, and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations supporting different products or domains
• Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate development of data artifacts
• Occasionally participate in on-call work to address bugs, outages, or operational issues maintaining system stability
