Staff PHP Engineer (Mexico)

Lendable is a leading fintech company and one of the UK’s newest unicorns with a team of over 700 people. It is profitable since 2017 and backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs. The company rebuilt major consumer finance products (loans, credit cards, and car finance) and is expanding into the Mexico market with a new mobile finance product.

• Based in Mexico or willing to relocate to Mexico
• Strong English language skills (written and spoken)
• High degree of ownership and autonomy
• Strong experience with modern PHP development (version 8.0+)
• Solid grasp of a modern PHP framework like Symfony or Laravel
• Experience with Domain Driven Design, Message-Driven Systems, Event Sourcing, and CQRS
• Excellent automated testing skills (unit, integration, functional)
• Genuine desire to learn, collaborate, and contribute ideas within a highly collaborative team

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with microservices architecture and financial systems
• Experience experimenting with AI tooling to accelerate productivity
• Experience in a cross-functional environment

• Take ownership and make decisions impacting the product direction and success from day one
• Collaborate with other product teams to align on approaches using existing learnings
• Work closely with frontend engineers to guide and agree on API behaviors and expectations via documented contracts
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to agree on MVP requirements
