Senior Database Engineer (Part-time)

N-iX is a global software development service company founded in 2002, with over 2,400 professionals across 40+ countries. The company works on impactful projects for industry leaders and Fortune 500 companies in cloud, data, AI/ML, embedded software, IoT, and other domains. It is assembling a dedicated delivery team for a US-based payments-technology business creating a standalone entity from its parent company, involving five production .NET applications including a central payment gateway and an AWS-native ticketing / point-of-sale product.

• 6+ years experience as a DBA / database engineer on large production estates with programmatic rollout of changes across hundreds or thousands of databases.
• Deep administration and performance expertise in SQL Server 2017/2019.
• Expert-level T-SQL skills including stored procedures and triggers.
• Working knowledge of MySQL 8 and AWS Aurora.
• Experience in schema-change automation with templated migrations, batching, verification, and rollback across many single-tenant databases.
• Hands-on experience with encrypted data stores, including encrypted card-vault handling, key-rotation, and re-encryption.
• Nice to have: Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, Azure SQL Managed Instance, PCI DSS exposure.
• Fluent written and spoken English (B2+) for documentation and client communications.
• Ability to work standard EU hours with 2-3 hours overlap with US Eastern Time for client ceremonies.

• Design and run programmatic security scanning across ~2,000 single-tenant SQL Server databases, focusing on configuration, permissions, encryption posture, and sensitive-data exposure.
• Build schema-change automation tooling with rollout and rollback capabilities for templated migrations executed estate-wide.
• Review and remediate T-SQL stored procedures and triggers flagged by security assessment, including the encrypted card vault, assisted by AI and security team.
• Support encrypted card-vault data handling and migration scenarios including key-rotation impact, re-encryption, and integrity verification.
• Harden the MySQL 8 / AWS Aurora databases of the AWS-native ticketing product.
• Produce retest evidence such as before/after states, scripts, execution logs, and residual-risk notes.
