Senior Software Engineer- Team Leader, hybrid, Assistant Vice President

Charles River Development (CRD) is the FinTech division of State Street. Together with State Street’s Middle and Back-office services, Charles River’s cloud-based Front Office technology forms the foundation of the State Street Alpha? Platform, the first front-to-back solution in the industry. CRD Engineering organization is innovating and transforming the platform by moving away from monolithic software to utilizing next generation cloud-based technology including Microsoft Azure, Kafka, and Snowflake.

• B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience with full lifecycle of project development for Java applications from similar industry and 2 years of experience in leading the team
• Strong skills in core Java, server-side Java technologies, and Spring frameworks using Agile methodologies and SQL database
• Experience in backend technologies like Kafka, Microservices
• At least 1-2 years of experience leading a team of 6-10 people including managing employees through whole life cycle from hiring to offboarding

Nice to have:

• Experience / understanding of Kubernetes and experience with a cloud platform: Azure, etc.
• Experience with Snowflake
• Experience with object-oriented programming, Relational databases (RDBMS), scripting and new/advanced programming languages
• Experience frontend technologies like React, Angular
• Experience in financial services developing solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR or Wealth Management

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and debug large and complex software enhancements and solutions within Charles River’s business and technical problem domains including modifications to core frameworks and other primary facilities critical to system operation
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create simple and sustainable software solutions for complex problems
• Direct problem solving for projects or major phases of projects to resolve software technical issues
• Develop, test, debug, and implement software programs, applications and projects using Java and being open to learn and utilize needed languages
• Provide informed guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes during code reviews
• Provide troubleshooting on large, mission critical client implementations
• Engage in the agile software development process by adhering to and advancing the CRD scrum methodology, including attending all daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
• Plan and coordinate cross-team activity groups to complete assignments
• Demonstrate more independence of design and development
• Mentor and guide Junior Engineers
• Lead a team of engineers both from technical and managerial perspective
