Senior Software Engineer – Data & AI Platform (m/f/d)

ALM Services Technology Group develops end–to–end Web and Mobile Solutions. They have long-term customer relationships and have been cooperating since 2020 with a multinational partner working in the med-tech and analytics space. Founded in 2009 in Poland, ALM opened a branch in Budapest in 2022 and is actively growing their team there.

• 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Backend Engineering, Data Engineering, or Platform Engineering
• Strong commercial experience with Python
• Experience integrating and operating third-party REST APIs
• Experience with ETL processes, ingestion services, and batch or event-driven pipelines
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Experience with Snowflake, Parquet, object storage, or equivalent analytical environments
• Experience with Airflow, cron, or similar orchestration tools
• Familiarity with LLM APIs, prompting, embeddings, semantic retrieval, or vector-based matching
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, version control, and code review
• Understanding logging, metrics, monitoring, and production support
• Strong communication skills and fluent English

Nice to have:

• Experience in architecture decisions, technical trade-offs, and ownership of scalability, reliability, data quality, API costs, observability, and technical direction
• Experience with RAG, AI agents, LangChain, LangGraph, or LLM orchestration

• Build and maintain services for collecting, processing, enriching, and delivering social media and content data
• Integrate REST APIs with reliable ingestion covering authentication, pagination, retries, caching, rate limits, deduplication, failures, and API changes
• Develop ETL pipelines for ingestion, transformation, validation, storage, and delivery
• Orchestrate workflows, incremental processing, backfills, and reprocessing using Airflow, cron, or similar tools
• Design data models using PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Parquet, object storage, or equivalent technologies
• Implement AI enrichment using LLM APIs, prompting, structured outputs, embeddings, and vector similarity
• Build classification, summarisation, ranking, semantic matching, clustering, and deduplication mechanisms
• Develop backend services, internal APIs, and downstream integrations
• Support automated testing, CI/CD, code review, releases, monitoring, and production operations
• Monitor pipeline health, data freshness, API usage, quotas, provider performance, and costs
• Design solutions for API outages, incomplete data, delayed processing, and provider failures
• Write secure, testable, and maintainable Python code
• Collaborate with product, data, AI, and engineering teams
• Use AI-assisted development tools while remaining responsible for code quality and correctness
• Define the platform’s technical architecture and direction
• Make decisions on scalability, reliability, performance, data quality, and cost
• Own API quotas, cost budgeting, ingestion strategy, and data coverage
• Define observability standards, SLOs, and production-readiness criteria
• Assess trade-offs, challenge solutions, and identify technical risks
• Guide engineers through design, reviews, troubleshooting, and delivery
• Take end-to-end ownership of complex platform components
