Engineering Manager, Platform Reliability

• 5+ years of engineering management experience, ideally with backend, infrastructure, or reliability-focused teams.
• Strong software engineering background to contribute to technical discussions and execution.
• Familiarity with building and operating cloud services, e.g., AWS, and cloud-native systems, e.g., Kubernetes.
• Experience with production systems at scale, focusing on failure modes, resilience, and graceful degradation.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts such as backpressure, capacity planning, traffic management, and reliability targets.
• Preference for long-term solutions and automation over quick fixes.
• Excellent coaching and communication skills to support engineer growth and team collaboration.
• Ability to partner with product, infrastructure, and engineering leadership to make tradeoffs and decisions.
• Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity and engineering practices.

• Build and lead the Platform Reliability team, including hiring and developing engineers.
• Define the roadmap for core reliability systems such as load shedding, rate limiting, circuit breakers, and traffic controls.
• Establish best-in-class operating practices for incident response, postmortems, and risk management using SLOs and capacity planning.
• Collaborate across platform and infrastructure teams to integrate reliability into architecture and delivery.
• Lead projects from scoping through rollout, balancing speed, safety, and maintainability.
• Coach and mentor engineers to foster strong engineering execution.
• Use incidents and metrics to refine priorities and improve team effectiveness over time.
