Senior DevOps Engineer

CloudFerro creates technology for leading European science and space sector organizations such as ESA, EUMETSAT, and ECMWF. The team develops a sovereign European cloud platform with a complete PaaS stack based on Kubernetes and open source technologies, including serverless, managed databases, MLOps, monitoring, and observability. The role involves designing the platform's foundations with full ownership of architectural decisions.

• Practical experience operating production-scale Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Experience with GitOps tools (such as ArgoCD or Flux) in production environments for pipeline maintenance and development.
• Hands-on experience with Cluster API for cluster lifecycle management.
• Experience with CI/CD including integration tests and ephemeral environments.
• Good knowledge of Go or Python programming languages.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
• Proficient use of AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code as part of daily engineering work.

Nice to have:

• Skills with rolling upgrades and certificate rotation.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible.
• Knowledge of container registries like Harbor.
• Working with Kamaji, k3s, vCluster, bare metal Kubernetes.
• Experience in chaos engineering and open source contribution.

• Manage the Kubernetes cluster lifecycle: provisioning, upgrading, scaling, decommissioning.
• Implement and maintain platform-supporting tools and solutions.
• Maintain and develop GitOps pipelines for the platform.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines, including build pipelines and integration test environments.
• Implement deployment and rollback standards for the platform.
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical platform incidents.

Tools used include Jira, Confluence, GIT, Agile, and Scrum.
