Solution Architect

SHIMI Sp. z o.o. is looking for a Solution Architect to support a long-term project delivered for an organization of the European Commission based in Brussels.

• Education: EQF7 in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or IT.
• At least 10 years as an IT solution architect and leading IT projects.
• Minimum 5 years contributing to technical standards development via bodies like OIDF, ISO, CEN/CENELEC, or ETSI.
• Author or co-author of 2+ peer-reviewed publications in IT, electronics, or mathematics.
• Minimum 1 year in projects involving tokenisation compliant with relevant EU regulatory frameworks.
• At least 7 years in systems and software architecture design plus 10 years in architecture governance and documentation practices.
• At least 7 years designing enterprise applications, middleware, microservices architectures, APIs (e.g., REST), and database management.
• Minimum 5 years working with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) including observability and monitoring practices, and experience using Go, C++, or equivalent languages.
• At least 10 years experience with networking concepts and protocols.
• Minimum 5 years applying cybersecurity principles and standards such as ISO 27001, OWASP, and Zero Trust.
• At least 7 years with OAuth2 and OIDC; minimum 5 years with OID4VC (OID4VCI, OID4VP) or similar credential exchange protocols; 5 years with data models like W3C VCDM, SD-JWT, and mDoc; 2 years defining digital signature profiles.
• At least 1 year experience with zero-knowledge proof frameworks (e.g., Gnark, Longfellow-zk).
• At least 1 year experience implementing real world asset tokenisation.
• Minimum 1 year experience implementing EU policies related to carbon markets.
• Minimum 1 year working with customs procedures.
• Excellent English proficiency (minimum C1, CEFR).

• Lead research, design, and validation of software architectures combining Web3, distributed systems, cryptography, and decentralised identity technologies.
• Conduct advanced technical research on distributed ledger technologies, decentralised identity protocols, cryptographic mechanisms, and trust infrastructures.
• Evaluate architectural approaches through technical analysis, modelling, proof-of-concepts, and performance assessments.
• Assess impact of standards, scientific advances, and regulations on system architecture.
• Provide technical leadership ensuring alignment between research, engineering practices, and architectural strategy.
• Produce architectural studies, white papers, and research reports.
• Design and develop business and technical architectures meeting business needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements.
• Evaluate and select technologies and frameworks.
• Create and maintain architectural artifacts such as Solution Context diagrams, C4 model views, API contracts, data models, threat models, and deployment diagrams.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and reliable.
• Guide development teams during implementation phases.
• Conduct architecture reviews to ensure adherence to enterprise standards like OWASP.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges.
• Incorporate emerging technologies.
• Define integration patterns (event-driven, Enterprise Integration Patterns), data flows, and API standards (OpenAPI/AsyncAPI).
• Identify and define architecture for verifiable credential exchange.
• Define signature profiles for verifiable credential and tokenization use cases.
• Define zero knowledge proof for unlinkable and privacy preserving proofs.
• Define digitalization strategies for public administrations.

Services must be performed from within the EU. Two physical meetings with the customer are required per 12-month period, at the contractor’s cost.
