Senior Software Engineer (Backend): Layer 1 Digital Asset

Founded in 2021, BVNK is building stablecoin-native infrastructure to enable instant cross-border and network value transfers. The company operates globally with licenses and Tier 1 bank partnerships, serving enterprise clients like Worldpay, Deel, and Rapyd. BVNK has received strategic investment from Visa and others, accelerating its growth in the digital financial services space.

• 5+ years experience as a backend software engineer, proficient in Java, Kotlin, or similar JVM-based languages.
• Experience designing, building, and operating microservices in distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and event-driven architectures e.g., Kafka, SQS/SNS.
• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code concepts and modern CI/CD software delivery practices.
• Experience with observability and reliability tooling, including logging, metrics, tracing, and performance optimization.
• Comfortable with Jira, Confluence, Git workflows, and collaborative engineering practices.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Practical problem-solving approach considering trade-offs to avoid over-engineering.

Nice to have:

• Experience with blockchain technologies, cryptocurrency infrastructure, or digital asset custody systems.
• Exposure to stablecoin payments, on-chain transaction processing, or multi-chain infrastructure.
• Understanding of key management, wallet architecture, or self-custody patterns.
• Experience integrating with blockchain node providers and compliance tools.
• Familiarity with domain-driven design and hexagonal architecture patterns.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or high-availability transactional systems.
• Background in fast-scaling or high-growth technology environments.
• Experience contributing to engineering strategy, hiring, or organizational scaling.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services for blockchain integrations, digital asset custody, and on-chain transaction processing.
• Build and evolve integrations with blockchain networks, crypto providers, and custody infrastructure supporting multi-chain and multi-asset operations.
• Contribute to architecture and evolution of the Layer1 platform, ensuring reliability, security, and data integrity.
• Build and maintain APIs supporting digital asset lifecycle operations including address generation, deposits, withdrawals, consolidation, and balance management.
• Improve system observability, performance, resilience, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering squads to deliver key features.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and design sessions to uphold engineering standards.
• Mentor peers and promote best practices within the engineering team.
• Participate in out-of-hours on-call rotation.
