Java Architect / Tech Lead

Ework Group, established in 2000 and listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, is a comprehensive talent management solutions provider collaborating with both private and public sector clients. The company focuses on IT/OT, R&D, engineering, and business development, delivering sustainable value through a holistic and independent approach to talent management. This role serves a client in the insurance industry and entails a planned 2-3 year project with an initial 2-month contract. The workplace location is Warsaw with a hybrid schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience designing and building web systems
• Very good practical knowledge of Java
• Experience building microservice and distributed system architectures
• Strong knowledge of architectural and integration patterns
• Experience in API design and system integration
• Knowledge of DDD (Domain-Driven Design)
• Practical knowledge of relational databases (SQL and query optimization)
• Knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture
• Experience with end-to-end observability
• Understanding of application security principles
• Experience in code review, mentoring, and leading a technical team
• Experience collaborating across teams
• Participation in technology decisions and risk assessment
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
• English language proficiency at minimum B2 level

Nice to have:

• Basic/practical knowledge of cloud technologies preferably Azure
• Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with Agentic AI / AI in SDLC for development automation and architectural decisions support

• Acting as Tech Lead in a Scrum team supporting technological direction and architectural decisions
• Active coding in Java to fulfill business requirements
• Designing and developing system and microservice architectures
• Collaborating with Product Owners and business to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Establishing and enforcing technical standards including coding, architecture, and integrations
• Conducting code reviews and maintaining code and solution quality
• Mentoring and developing the competencies of the development team
• Supporting the team in solving technical issues
• Designing and overseeing system and API integrations
• Ensuring performance, security, and scalability of solutions
• Collaborating cross-functionally with other Scrum teams, architecture, DevOps, and integration teams
• Participating in technology decisions and risk assessments
• Utilizing cloud technologies, preferably Azure, in solutions
• Using Agentic AI / AI in development processes for automation and productivity enhancement

Located in Warsaw with a hybrid work mode: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote. Minimum English proficiency at B2 level required.
