Mid Software Engineer - Python

Guidewire Software is a platform trusted by Property and Casualty insurers to engage, innovate, and grow efficiently. It combines digital, core, analytics, and AI technologies to deliver its platform as a cloud service to 540+ insurers in 40 countries. The Pricing and Rating team builds and maintains an insurance pricing platform leveraging modern technologies including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and machine learning libraries. The team consists of ~15 engineers working in agile pods on a young product with a fresh codebase.

• Minimum 2 years of Python development experience
• Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and Celery
• Minimum 1 year of TypeScript development experience
• Experience with hooks and testing-library
• Experience delivering production-grade solutions and solving problems at scale
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong foundation in data structures and algorithmics
• Excellent communication skills in English, able to articulate complex technical concepts
• High sense of responsibility, good work ethic, curiosity, and openness to new ideas
• Enjoy working with people and readiness for occasional in-person meetings

Nice to have:

• Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS
• Experience owning quality through test automation
• Experience building microservices exposing RESTful APIs in Python
• Experience with Tanstack, react-hook-farm, and vite

• Research, develop, and maintain insurance pricing algorithms and proprietary solutions
• Perform fullstack development with TypeScript and Python
• Analyze requirements, propose solutions, build proof of concepts and production-ready, well-tested solutions
• Support, optimize, and maintain solutions to meet service level objectives (SLOs)
• Cooperate with team members through pull request reviews, Requests for Comments (RFCs), Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and agile ceremonies
• Participate in occasional face-to-face meetings with the team
