Senior Software Engineer - Python

Guidewire Software is a global company providing a platform for property and casualty insurers. The Pricing and Rating Team builds and maintains an insurance pricing platform that enables insurers to create and deploy advanced pricing models using modern technologies such as machine learning libraries and cloud infrastructure including AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes. The team consists of about 15 engineers working in agile pods on a young product with a fresh codebase.

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Python development
• Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and Celery
• Experience building software for high availability using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies
• Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS including Kubernetes, IAM, and S3
• Strong foundation in algorithmics and data structures
• Experience in quality ownership through test automation; knowledge of TDD and BDD is a plus
• Expertise in profiling and performance optimization at code, database, and infrastructure levels
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Willingness to participate in occasional face-to-face meetings

Nice to have:

• Background or interest in data engineering
• Familiarity with NumPy, pandas, Polars

• Develop RESTful APIs using Python, Flask, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Pydantic
• Analyze requirements, propose solutions, and develop proofs of concept
• Build and release production-grade, well-tested solutions
• Support, optimize, and maintain solutions to meet service level objectives
• Cooperate with team members through pull request reviews, RFCs/ADRs, and agile ceremonies
