Platform DevOps/SRE Engineer

At CloudFerro, technologies are built for European leaders in science and the space sector, including ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR, and EGI. The company works closely with the Earth Observation sector to support advanced analysis and a better understanding of the planet. CloudFerro is developing a sovereign European cloud platform as an alternative to global hyperscalers, focusing on a complete PaaS stack based on Kubernetes and open source technologies.

• Practical experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or Platform Engineer with ambition to grow towards a lead role.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes deployments, operations, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux) and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenSearch).
• Good knowledge of Go and Python.
• Willingness to learn and take ownership across the full operational scope of a cloud platform.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Copilot as part of daily work.

Nice to have:

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines, integration testing, ephemeral environments, and release workflows.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with etcd operations including backup, restore, and monitoring.
• Knowledge of distributed tracing technologies like OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, and Tempo.
• Experience defining and implementing SLO/SLI frameworks.
• Experience with incident response and post-mortem culture.

• Co-build and maintain the observability stack including metrics, logs, and tracing.
• Support cluster operations, GitOps pipelines, and CI/CD processes alongside the Lead Platform DevOps Engineer.
• Independently lead engineering initiatives such as designing alerting strategies, building SLO/SLI frameworks, and creating ephemeral test environments.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Perform capacity planning and performance monitoring.
• Automate platform operations and improve engineering workflows.
