Engineering Manager/Cloud Operations Manager

CloudFerro develops technologies used by European leaders in science and the space sector, including ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR, and EGI. The company supports Earth Observation sector projects and hosts a large production cloud infrastructure utilized by commercial, institutional clients and international European projects such as those for the European Space Agency.

• Experience managing a technical team, preferably in infrastructure, cloud, platform, or operations.
• Strong understanding of operating production IT systems and working in high availability environments.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, distributed systems, and infrastructure as a foundation for production services.
• Ability to combine technical, project, and business perspectives.
• Experience prioritizing tasks, managing dependencies, and delivering team objectives.
• Communication skills across diverse stakeholders from engineers to executive management.
• Managerial maturity in motivating, giving feedback, developing competencies, and making difficult decisions.
• Experience building team autonomy, responsibility areas, and cross-team collaboration.
• Accountability for team work quality and readiness to act under time pressure.
• Fluency in English at B2/C1 level.

Nice to have:

• Experience with OpenStack, Ceph, Linux, Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar infrastructure stack.
• Familiarity with incident management, problem management, SRE, or ITIL practices.
• Experience in cloud, hosting, data center, or large production infrastructure environments.
• Experience working with external clients or projects with high availability and service quality requirements.

• Manage the Cloud Projects & Operations team and support their operational and project work.
• Ensure successful delivery of projects, maintenance initiatives, and roadmap activities.
• Collaborate with the IaaS Product Manager on roadmap maintenance and updates.
• Prioritize tasks, manage dependencies, and ensure work predictability.
• Monitor short- and long-term goal achievement.
• Maintain operational service quality, including stability, monitoring, incident handling, and problem elimination.
• Support incident and problem management processes, including RCA/post-mortem analyses and preventive actions.
• Assist the team with complex technical and organizational issues.
• Develop team competencies through 1:1s, feedback, and fostering ownership.
• Plan team roles, substitutions, and competency growth.
• Recruit new employees and collaborators.
• Collect and organize requirements from stakeholders concerning projects and maintenance work.
• Collaborate with Product Management, PMO, technical teams, sales, business, and management board.
• Support sales processes with technical and operational consulting.
• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, solution documentation, and continuous improvement.
