Staff Software Engineer, Customer Plans (all genders)

You will be part of the Consumer Core Tribe as a member of the Plans squad. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will shape the backbone of the mission-critical Customer Plans Domain, currently undergoing strategic evolution to ensure reliability and consistency for millions of users. The role includes providing technical leadership and aligning technical strategy with business objectives across teams.

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with deep expertise in microservices and distributed event-driven architectural patterns.
• Expert-level proficiency in Go or JVM languages.
• Proven experience in architectural decisions for large-scale distributed systems and integrations.
• Advanced experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures including production operations at scale.
• Extensive experience building event-driven architectures using message bus technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and SQS/SNS.
• Deep expertise with database technologies (relational and NoSQL), including performance optimization and schema design.
• Demonstrated mentoring skills and ability to drive technical standards across teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with senior stakeholders and distributed teams.
• Experience using AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as part of regular workflow.
• Familiarity with e-commerce, subscription-based business models, and GraphQL integration is a significant advantage.

• Work on the architecture, design, and technical strategy for complex microservices systems, establishing patterns and best practices across multiple teams.
• Drive technical decision-making and architectural reviews, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability of the Plans domain.
• Conduct analysis, document detailed specifications, and ensure requirements align with strategic goals and architecture.
• Lead critical technical initiatives and cross-team projects, collaborating with technical leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Drive adoption of AI-powered tools and methodologies to accelerate development cycles and enhance quality and efficiency.
• Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of precision, operational excellence, and high-quality engineering.
