Senior QA Automation Engineer (Java | Web | Mobile | API)

Upvanta is seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer responsible for designing and developing modern test automation frameworks to ensure high-quality web, mobile, and API applications. The role involves hands-on technical work with automation frameworks based on Java and Maven.

• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in Quality Assurance with a focus on test automation.
• Strong knowledge of Java and projects based on Maven.
• Practical experience in automating tests for web, mobile (iOS/Android), and API applications.
• Proficient with automation tools: Selenium or Playwright, Appium (or other mobile automation tools), and Perfecto for mobile device testing.
• Strong experience with Cucumber (BDD), including Gherkin, feature files, step definitions, and test execution management.
• Experience with TestNG.
• Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or SOAP UI.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with AWS environments and cloud application testing.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience with test and defect management tools like JIRA, Zephyr, or similar.
• Knowledge of best practices in test automation.
• Ability to work in Agile environments with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in banking, finance, or large enterprise systems.
• Building or scaling automation frameworks from scratch.
• Experience testing solutions spanning Web, Mobile, and API simultaneously.
• Knowledge of multi-platform testing strategies and Mobile Cloud platforms.
• Experience in performance or other non-functional testing.

• Design and develop scalable test automation frameworks for web, mobile (iOS/Android), and API applications using Java and Maven.
• Create and maintain automation scripts using Selenium, Playwright, and Appium, integrating them with CI/CD pipelines.
• Build BDD frameworks with Cucumber, including feature files, step definitions, and reusable components.
• Write and execute test scenarios in Given/When/Then format and manage test execution with tags.
• Configure test environments and manage test execution using Maven and TestNG.
• Test web, mobile, and API applications (REST and SOAP).
• Validate end-to-end processes covering UI, API, and backend layers.
• Define automation strategies and optimize the balance between manual and automated tests.
• Integrate tests with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with applications running in AWS environments.
• Coordinate QA activities across functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Support release management by performing regression tests, quality reporting, and defect management.
• Maintain full traceability between business requirements, test scenarios, and reported defects.
• Work closely with Developers, Product Owners, and Architects to ensure product quality from early development stages.
• Analyze root causes of defects and manage defects using JIRA and similar tools.
