Senior Backend Engineer - DevOps

Guidewire is a platform for property and casualty insurers, combining digital, core, analytics, and AI to deliver their platform as a cloud service. The company works with over 540 insurers in 40 countries and has completed over 1600 projects, supported by a large R&D team and partner ecosystem. The Pricing and Rating Team builds and maintains an insurance pricing platform leveraging modern technologies such as machine learning, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes to ensure scalability, performance, and security.

• At least 2 years of Python development experience
• Experience with frameworks and libraries such as FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and Celery
• Minimum 1 year of TypeScript development experience
• Familiarity with React, hooks, and testing-library
• Experience delivering production-grade solutions and solving scalability challenges
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures
• Excellent communication skills in English
• High responsibility, good work ethic, curiosity, and openness to new tools
• Willingness to work with a team including occasional in-person meetings

Nice to have:

• Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS
• Experience in test automation
• Experience building microservices exposing RESTful APIs with Python
• Experience with Tanstack, react-hook-farm, and vite

• Research, develop, and maintain insurance pricing algorithms, visualizations, and proprietary solutions
• Fullstack development using TypeScript and Python
• Analyze requirements, propose solutions, create spikes and proofs of concept, and deliver production-grade, well-tested solutions
• Support, optimize, and maintain solutions to meet service level objectives
• Collaborate with team members through PR reviews, RFCs/ADRs, and agile ceremonies
