Senior Scala Developer

Xebia sp. z o.o. is the employer offering this position with offices in multiple Polish cities including Wrocław, Rzeszów, Gdańsk, and Warszawa.

• 5+ years of commercial experience in Scala backend development
• Strong experience building and maintaining scalable backend applications
• Solid background in system performance tuning and optimization
• Practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve software delivery productivity and quality
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong understanding of backend engineering best practices and software design principles
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Good command of English (min. B2)

Nice to have:

• Experience applying GenAI in structured ways within the SDLC including workflows and tool integrations
• Interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices such as agent-based workflows and AI-augmented development

• Designing, developing, and enhancing backend services using Scala
• Optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability of large-scale applications
• Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues affecting production systems
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions
• Contributing to continuous improvement of engineering practices and code quality
• Supporting knowledge sharing and mentoring less experienced engineers
