Senior Rust Engineer

BRAVER IT is hiring a Rust Engineer to join a small, focused team working on the full stack of their VPN technology. The team develops custom VPN tooling, integrates emerging protocols, and builds technical capabilities for the business.

• Proficiency in Rust with daily coding experience
• Strong knowledge of Linux including kernel, networking stack, and systemd
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, routing
• Experience building tools, services, or automation
• Security-conscious approach to software development
• Ability to work independently in a small team with minimal process
• Proven track record of shipping software solving real problems

Highly Valued:

• Familiarity with VPN technologies or tunneling protocols (WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPsec)
• Experience with cryptography or TLS including key management and certificate infrastructure
• Experience building or customizing Linux distributions or server images
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform)
• Monitoring and observability experience (Prometheus, Grafana)
• Contributions to open-source projects in networking, security, or systems space

• Build custom VPN tooling and services that power server infrastructure
• Integrate new and emerging VPN protocols into the platform
• Develop internal tools and technology stacks to create new product features and grow subscribers
• Write production-quality code in Rust
• Work on server builds, provisioning pipelines, and deployment automation
• Harden and secure server infrastructure with security as a priority
• Tune Linux systems and networking for performance and reliability
• Lead technical research and prototyping for new capabilities
• Help shape engineering culture and practices
• Use and evaluate AI tooling in the development workflow
