Site Reliability Engineer II (SRE) - Guidewire Cloud Platform (Application)

• Experience as an SRE or similar role focused on improving system reliability.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex systems.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional work.
• Experience with automation, monitoring, and performance optimization tools.
• Commitment to maximizing uptime, scalability, and exceptional end-user experience.
• Comfortable with Linux system administration and programming/script skills in Python, Go, Java, Shell or equivalents.
• Basic understanding of SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets.
• Familiarity with application performance monitoring (APM) and telemetry tools.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging distributed systems in cloud infrastructure.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines within Kubernetes or legacy systems.
• Familiarity with creating monitors, dashboards, and synthetic transactions in monitoring tools like Datadog.
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS or Kubernetes ecosystems using Terraform or other cloud-native approaches.
• Familiarity with infrastructure configuration management tools such as GitOps, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Basic understanding of AWS cloud networking and security.

Preferred Skills:

• Pursuing or interested in pursuing SRE and AWS Certifications.
• Familiarity with SQL, database administration, data pipelines, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Exposure to pipelining tools such as Team City, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Interest in learning open-source distributed data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, AWS RedShift.

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with development teams to minimize customer impact.
• Develop and maintain automated runbooks for proactive issue resolution.
• Apply engineering principles and automation to improve operating environments.
• Monitor applications and enhance reliability and performance on the Guidewire Cloud Platform.
• Optimize systems to reduce manual tasks using software engineering skills.
• Document incidents and help refine processes to prevent future issues.
• Stay current with trends and best practices in site reliability engineering.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure service availability and reliability.

This position requires participation in mandatory on-call rotations, including responding to incidents and alerts outside regular business hours, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Candidates must be willing and able to fulfill this responsibility.
