Senior Software Engineer - Python

Guidewire Software is a global company providing a platform for property and casualty insurers. The Pricing and Rating Team builds and maintains an insurance pricing platform using modern technologies such as cloud infrastructure (AWS), machine learning libraries, and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker). The team operates in agile pods, taking ownership of all software lifecycle aspects to support product excellence and customer success.

• At least 6 years of experience in Python development
• Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and Celery
• Experience building software for high availability using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies
• Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS (including Kubernetes, IAM, S3)
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures
• Experience with test automation and quality ownership, familiarity with TDD and BDD is a plus
• Expertise in profiling and performance optimization at code, database, and infrastructure levels
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Willingness for occasional face-to-face meetings

Nice to have:

• Data engineering experience or interest and familiarity with NumPy, pandas, and Polars

• Develop RESTful APIs using Flask and FastAPI with extensive use of SQLAlchemy and Pydantic
• Analyze requirements, propose solutions, create spikes, and build proofs of concept as well as production-grade tested solutions
• Support, optimize, and maintain solutions to meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs)
• Cooperate with team members via pull request reviews, RFCs, architectural decision records, and agile ceremonies
