Senior Software Engineer - Python

Guidewire is the platform P&C insurers trust to engage, innovate, and grow efficiently. More than 540+ insurers in 40 countries use the platform, supported by the largest R&D team in the industry and a partner ecosystem. The Pricing and Rating Team builds and maintains an insurance pricing platform using a modern technology stack including Python, machine learning libraries, and cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes. The team consists of about 15 engineers working in agile pods on a young product and fresh codebase with ownership of the full software lifecycle.

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Python development
• Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and Celery
• Experience building highly available software using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies
• Familiarity with public cloud providers, preferably AWS (including Kubernetes, IAM, S3)
• Strong foundation in algorithmics and data structures
• Experience with test automation; knowledge of TDD and BDD considered a plus
• Expertise in profiling and performance optimization at various levels
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Willingness to work remotely with occasional face-to-face meetings

Nice to have:

• Background or interest in data engineering
• Familiarity with NumPy, pandas, and Polars

• Develop RESTful APIs using Python frameworks like FastAPI and Flask with extensive use of SQLAlchemy and Pydantic
• Analyze requirements, propose solutions, build proof of concepts, and deliver production-grade, well-tested solutions
• Support, optimize, and maintain solutions to meet service level objectives
• Participate in code reviews, RFCs, architectural decision records, and agile ceremonies
• Take ownership of quality including test automation (TDD, BDD suggested)
• Profile and optimize performance at code, database, and infrastructure levels
• Cooperate with team members and stakeholders across development, product, sales, and customer success teams
