Tech Lead, Platform Reliability Engineering

Asana is hiring a Tech Lead for their Platform Reliability Engineering team in Warsaw. The role involves owning technical direction, architecture, and long-term engineering strategy to build core platform systems that ensure reliability and resilience under load.

• Strong software engineering background with experience in writing production code and system design.
• 8+ years of experience building and operating scalable backend systems.
• Experience leading technical projects and influencing cross-team direction.
• Ability to improve colleagues' skills through clarity, feedback, and raising technical standards.
• Familiarity with distributed systems patterns, including backpressure, graceful degradation, and capacity planning.
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Terraform, and monitoring tools such as Datadog.
• Experience working with reliability and performance targets for production systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Interest and curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.

• Set technical direction for the team, ensuring the right problems are solved correctly.
• Design and build core platform systems like load shedding, circuit breakers, and rate limiting.
• Own platform concerns such as ingress and egress traffic management.
• Define stable interfaces and libraries for other platform teams.
• Lead projects end-to-end, collaborating across teams.
• Raise technical quality through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to embed reliability as a core design constraint.
• Debug complex issues across the technology stack.
