Senior Software Engineer, Platform Reliability

Asana is building teams to design and maintain core platform systems ensuring reliability and performance. This role focuses on foundational infrastructure engineering including load shedding, traffic management, and system resilience across a variety of technologies including AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform, Datadog, Scala, Go, and Python.

• 7+ years of experience building and operating scalable backend systems.
• Strong software engineering skills in production code and system design.
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts including backpressure, graceful degradation, and capacity planning.
• Experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Proficiency with Terraform and monitoring tools like Datadog.
• Experience defining and meeting reliability and performance targets.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and leverage AI tools and emerging technologies.

• Design and build core platform systems like load shedding, rate limiting, and circuit breakers to ensure resilience.
• Own platform traffic management including ingress and egress systems.
• Define stable interfaces and libraries for use by other platform teams.
• Lead end-to-end projects including scoping, design, and rollout.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to embed reliability in system architecture.
• Debug complex system issues and prevent recurrence.
• Share knowledge via code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.

The role requires physical presence in Warsaw office with a hybrid schedule: mandatory office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, optional work from home on Wednesday, and potential home office on Friday subject to work type.
