Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Software-Focused)

Asana is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join its founding SRE team in Warsaw. The role involves designing and building internal platforms that power Asana's products, including AI systems and offline analytics, leveraging a tech stack of AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), MySQL (RDS), OpenSearch, DynamoDB, Redis, Terraform, Datadog, TypeScript, Scala, Go, and Python.

• Strong software engineering background with comfort writing production code in Go, Python, Scala, and TypeScript.
• 7+ years of experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and storage technologies including SQL, NoSQL, Search in cloud environments.
• Experience with AWS services such as RDS, EKS, IAM, infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, and monitoring tools like Datadog.
• Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and incident response.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across teams.
• Curiosity about AI tools and willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity and decision-making.

Nice to have:

• Experience shipping real systems beyond scripting.
• Interest in backend engineering aspects related to failure modes, operational cost, debuggability, and performance.

• Design and build frameworks, tools, and services to improve reliability, observability, and scalability of Asana's infrastructure.
• Lead end-to-end projects across multiple systems and teams, from scoping and design through rollout.
• Improve operability of stateful infrastructure such as MySQL, OpenSearch, and DynamoDB.
• Debug production issues with an emphasis on lasting fixes within an on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with product teams to develop a service-oriented architecture that supports fast, reliable development.
• Share knowledge via code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.
