Senior Software Engineer - AI Agents Testing

Zendesk is a company focused on customer service software powering billions of conversations globally. The AI Agent Testing team within the AI Agents organization is responsible for synthetic testing, evaluation workflows, validation frameworks, and tooling to measure quality and ensure AI agents are reliable and robust.

• 5+ years experience building modern web applications using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Strong experience designing and building backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems.
• Understanding of clean architecture, testing strategy, observability, and maintainability.
• Ability to deliver polished, performant, accessible user experiences.
• Excellent communication skills and proactive mindset.
• Product-minded engineer with ability to influence technical decisions and mentor.
• Comfortable working in fast-moving, cross-functional environments with feedback iteration.
• Eager to expand into ML engineering, connect with evaluation, testing, and AI lifecycle.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of microservice architecture and relational/NoSQL data modeling.
• Experience with AI agentic tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.
• Experience with Python, especially for testing, automation, data processing, or scripting.
• Prior experience building evaluation systems, synthetic testing pipelines, or AI quality tooling.

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems.
• Design and deliver polished, performant, and accessible user experiences.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data engineers, and AI/ML teams.
• Ship features end-to-end and influence technical direction.
• Mentor other engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Contribute to reliability, scalability, and observability of systems.
• Drive work forward, identify risks early, and help the team execute with confidence.
