Engineering Manager, Platform Reliability

• 5+ years of engineering management experience, ideally with backend, infrastructure, or reliability-focused teams.
• Strong software engineering background, able to contribute to technical discussions and design tradeoffs.
• Familiarity with building and operating services in the cloud, e.g., AWS, and using cloud-native systems like Kubernetes.
• Experience building and operating production systems at scale, with focus on failure modes, resilience, and graceful degradation.
• Comfortable with distributed systems concepts such as backpressure, capacity planning, traffic management, and reliability targets.
• Preference for long-term solutions over quick fixes and automation over manual labor.
• Excellent coaching and communication skills to foster growth and collaboration.
• Ability to partner with product, infrastructure, and engineering leadership to make tradeoffs and decisions.
• Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.

• Build and lead a new Platform Reliability team, setting standards for collaboration, ownership, technical excellence, and growth.
• Partner with technical leaders to define the roadmap for core reliability systems such as load shedding, rate limiting, circuit breakers, traffic controls, and platform guardrails.
• Establish and evangelize operating practices for incident response, postmortems, and proactive risk management through SLOs and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to embed reliability into architecture, planning, and delivery from the start.
• Lead end-to-end projects from scoping to rollout, balancing speed, safety, and maintainability.
• Foster engineering execution culture through coaching, feedback, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Use incidents, metrics, and customer impact to continuously improve team effectiveness.
