Senior Data Scientist

Senior Data Scientist role at Bayer's Digital Hub Warsaw within the Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence unit of the Enterprise Data & Analytics Platform. The international team spans Poland, Germany, Spain, and India, focusing on AI solutions for Finance, Supply Chain, HR, Procurement, Legal, and Communications.

• Master’s or PhD with 5+ years in Data Science or Applied ML delivering production-impact solutions.
• Strong skills in Python, SQL, and standard data science libraries: pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn; experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI: embeddings, prompt engineering, tool/function calling, agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, PydanticAI); experience with vector databases such as pgvector.
• Solid grounding in classical ML: model selection, validation, and metrics (AUC/F1/RMSE); time series or forecasting experience is a plus.
• Experience designing and running offline/online tests, rubric-based GenAI evaluation, safety checks, error analysis; familiarity with LangSmith/Langfuse is beneficial.
• Clear stakeholder communication skills including requirements gathering and data-driven storytelling.
• Proven problem-solving skills with hypothesis-driven analysis and iterative experimentation.
• Basic cloud proficiency with AWS and/or Azure: storage (S3/Blob), compute (Lambda/Functions, containers), secrets management, and Databricks or Spark; awareness of CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Good engineering hygiene: modular code, testing, documentation, and reproducibility.
• Awareness of data governance and privacy.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

• Translate business needs into data science problems with defined hypotheses, metrics, and evaluation plans.
• Design, build, and evaluate AI and (Gen)AI solutions including LLMs, AgenticAI, prompt/chain design, classical ML models, RAG pipelines, and vector search.
• Establish rigorous evaluation using offline metrics, human-in-the-loop reviews, rubric-based GenAI assessments, and online tests.
• Implement production-ready Python code with engineering standards: Git workflows, code reviews, automated tests, documentation, reproducibility.
• Ensure monitoring and traceability: data/feature drift checks, model and prompt versioning, cost/latency tracking, structured logging.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Data Engineers, AI Engineers, and Business stakeholders to drive AI solution adoption.
• Lead workshops, stakeholder demos, and storytelling around insights, risks, and trade-offs.
