Lead Developer / Senior Software Engineer

ITFS is the company offering a remote B2B position for a Lead Developer / Senior Software Engineer to work on a clinical data transformation engine compliant with CDISC SDTM standards.

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as Software Engineer or minimum 8 years for Lead Developer role.
• Experience designing and developing backend applications and data processing systems.
• Very good command of Python.
• Experience creating clean, testable, and scalable code.
• Practical knowledge of pytest / pytest-bdd, Lambda Powertools, and monorepo environment.
• Ability to design solutions considering code quality, testing, and maintenance.
• Very good knowledge of AWS services (AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Amazon S3, DynamoDB, IAM).
• Ability to design solutions considering costs, performance, error handling, scaling, and reliability.
• Experience with distributed and event-driven systems.
• Ability to diagnose production issues independently.
• Experience working end-to-end from data layer to user interface.
• Good communication skills and documentation of technical decisions.
• Independence, responsibility for delivered solutions, ability to work asynchronously.
• English language proficiency at minimum C1 level.

Nice to have:

• Experience with GraphQL / AWS AppSync (schema design, resolver creation, frontend integration).
• Knowledge of React + TypeScript and SPA applications (Vite, AWS Cloudscape).
• Experience with Terraform (configuration and maintenance of infrastructure, multi-stack).
• Experience with Databricks or similar big data processing platforms.
• Knowledge of clinical data standards CDISC SDTM / CDISC ADAM.
• Experience developing software in regulated environments (pharmaceutical, life sciences, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11).
• Familiarity with distributed system patterns (fan-out/fan-in, idempotency, at-least-once delivery).
• Experience with Amazon OpenSearch, GitHub Actions, and code quality tools (Black, Flake8, Pylint, Bandit).

• Design, develop, and maintain a clinical data transformation engine in CDISC SDTM standard.
• Build and enhance backend services using Python, AWS, and scalable data pipelines.
• Implement and develop orchestration using AWS Step Functions, AWS Lambda, and Databricks.
• Design data processing workflows and optimize solution performance.
• Develop GraphQL / AWS AppSync based APIs and collaborate with frontend in React + TypeScript.
• Create features for tools defining data mapping specifications.
• Modify infrastructure as code with Terraform from configuration to production deployment.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decisions.
• Analyze and solve issues in distributed environments (AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, DynamoDB, production logs).
• Take part in technical on-call duties.
• Support team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
