AI Compiler Engineer

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc (AMD) is a technology company focused on next-generation supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. The company is seeking an engineering leader to drive compiler innovation for data center GPU platforms for AI applications.

• Strong background in computer architecture and software engineering practices
• Experience designing and working with compiler backends
• Active contribution history to the open-source LLVM project
• Mastery of LLVM backend components such as LLVM IR, Machine IR (MIR), SelectionDAG, GlobalISel, Register Allocation, TableGen, and Instruction Scheduling
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred academic credentials:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Multiple years professional experience in compiler development with focus on LLVM or modern compiler backends

• Drive compiler innovation to unlock performance of data center GPU platforms for AI
• Set technical direction and deliver high-impact compiler optimizations
• Mentor senior staff and ensure performance, correctness, and stability of compiler toolchain
• Improve compiler infrastructure of current products and develop new AMD technologies
• Design, implement, and tune LLVM backend passes including instruction selection, register allocation, scheduling, and memory transformations
• Design and implement new code generation infrastructure including custom LLVM components
• Collaborate with Hardware Design, Architecture, Software Runtime, and Kernel/Driver teams on hardware/software co-design
• Represent AMD in the LLVM open-source community by contributing patches and driving feature integration
