Backend Architect

• 9+ years of experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems.
• Deep experience in modern backend frameworks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Django, Spring Boot).
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Go, Java, and Node.js.
• Expertise with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), containerization, and serverless/cloud-native architectures.
• Proven ability to apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles across teams.
• Experience architecting and building event-driven systems using distributed messaging tools like Kafka and SQS.
• Experience defining and improving CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Gitlab) and automated testing strategies.
• Expertise in scalable API design and management (RESTful APIs; GraphQL is a plus).
• Strong background in system observability practices including logs, metrics, and tracing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Passion for using AI technologies to enhance productivity and innovation.
• Curiosity about and drive to stay ahead of emerging AI/ML technologies.
• Ownership mentality balancing urgency with long-term system health.

• Drive the technical vision and architecture for scalable backend systems.
• Take ownership of complex technical challenges and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Directors, and Product leadership.
• Guide the transition from a monolithic Ruby on Rails application to a modern distributed architecture.
• Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Design and deliver scalable, reliable architecture with cross-team collaboration.
• Define clear sub-system boundaries and recommend functionality placement.
• Develop and maintain code quality standards organization-wide.
• Identify and drive architectural enhancements and strategic refactorings.
• Design and implement automated tests at effective architectural layers.
• Conduct code and architectural reviews to ensure alignment with system design principles.
• Maintain and improve continuous integration and development environments.
• Serve as a mentor to engineers across the organization.
