Site Reliability Engineer II (SRE) - Guidewire Cloud Platform (Application)

Guidewire delivers software for Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance companies to support crisis management, underwriting, claims, billing, data management, digital portals, and predictive analytics. Their products run on the Guidewire Cloud Platform and are used worldwide by insurers.

• Experience as an SRE or similar role with a focus on system reliability.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and experience analyzing complex systems.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional work and documentation.
• Experience with automation, monitoring, and performance optimization tools.
• Commitment to maximizing uptime and scalability.
• Passion for technology and continuous learning.
• Basic understanding of SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets.
• Familiarity with application performance monitoring (APM) and telemetry tools.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging distributed cloud systems.
• Exposure to CICD pipelines within Kubernetes or legacy ecosystems.
• Experience creating monitors, dashboards, and synthetic transactions using monitoring tools like Datadog.
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Familiarity with infrastructure configuration management tools like GitOps, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Basic understanding of AWS cloud networking and security.
• Comfortable with Linux system administration and scripting/programming in Python, Go, Java, or shell.

Preferred Skills:

• Interest in pursuing SRE Certification.
• Interest in pursuing AWS Certification.
• Familiarity with SQL, database administration, data pipelines, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Exposure to pipelining tools such as Team City, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Interest in open-source distributed data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, and AWS RedShift.

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues collaboratively with development teams to minimize customer impact.
• Develop and maintain automated runbooks for proactive issue resolution.
• Apply engineering principles and automation to improve operating environments.
• Monitor applications to improve their reliability and performance on the Guidewire Cloud Platform.
• Optimize systems and reduce manual tasks using software engineering skills.
• Document incidents and help refine processes to prevent future issues.
• Stay informed about industry trends, tools, and best practices in site reliability engineering.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call rotations ensuring availability and reliability of services.
