Senior IBM Mainframe Developer with Cobol

YourITeams is involved in projects in banking, insurance, and other highly regulated industries focusing on IBM Mainframe technologies.

• Minimum five years of professional experience in development and maintenance of applications on the IBM Mainframe platform.
• Strong practical knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS and z/OS.
• Hands-on experience with DB2, including SQL development, query optimisation and data analysis.
• Proven ability to independently design and implement effective technical solutions to meet business needs.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues and optimising existing applications.
• Proactive, self-driven approach with a clear sense of ownership and accountability.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills suitable for international project teams.
• English language proficiency at B1 level or higher.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Git, Bitbucket and CI/CD practices in mainframe environments.
• Background in banking, financial services or insurance.
• Familiarity with mainframe modernisation initiatives and AI-driven software development solutions.
• Experience mentoring junior developers.

• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and implementation plans.
• Design, develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL and CICS on z/OS.
• Develop and optimise DB2 SQL queries and participate in database design and performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective measures.
• Improve application performance, reliability and maintainability through code review and refactoring.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in an international project environment.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation and adoption of best practices.
• Support testing, deployment and operation activities, and participate in on-call rotations if required.
