Linux Platform Engineer

Motorola Solutions is a global company focused on building technologies to help protect people, property, and places. The Dimetra engineering team develops TETRA-based communications systems used worldwide by public safety organizations, police, emergency services, and the military. The Linux Platform team delivers platform solutions including Linux OS, virtualization techniques, and server configuration for the core of Dimetra communications systems.

• Minimum 2 years experience in Linux systems development or maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems including KVM virtualization administration and troubleshooting.
• Good knowledge of Bash.
• Good knowledge of Python.
• Basic knowledge of networking protocols and features, such as TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Enthusiasm for learning and taking on responsibilities.
• Strong team player with open communication skills.
• English language skills enabling effective communication.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Scrum methodology.
• Experience with Git and Jira.
• Experience with automation frameworks and Jenkins.

• Design, develop, and test Linux-based platform solutions involving virtualization (mainly KVM) and server configuration.
• Perform manual integration level testing and test automation.
• Maintain platform hardware.
• Execute day-to-day tasks using the Scrum methodology and Agile best practices.
