Senior UNIX Administrator

• Strong Linux server administration expertise (primarily RHEL) with 6–10 years’ experience; experience with SLES and Solaris (x86/SPARC) desirable.
• Industry-standard UNIX certifications.
• Proven Linux administration and architecture experience including volume managers, multipathing, and kernel parameter tuning.
• Strong scripting/automation skills in shell, Perl, and Python.
• Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting of Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas Cluster Server.
• Strong infrastructure background including x86 hardware and virtualization platforms (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V).
• Storage experience configuring filesystems on NAS and EMC SAN (standalone and clustered), including replication.
• Working knowledge of networking concepts and technologies (e.g., TCP/UDP, LAN/WAN, F5, VIPs, firewalls, Cisco).
• Experience in major enterprise and/or highly regulated environments such as Financial Services.
• Experience with DevOps/configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex topics clearly to varied audiences.
• Self-management skills including prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and working well under pressure.
• Good understanding of operational discipline; ITIL concepts/service operations beneficial and a track record of improving processes.

• Configure, deliver, and support Linux (RHEL) and some Solaris-based server environments and services in a DevOps infrastructure delivery model.
• Work with application teams and DevOps pods to deploy centrally provided services and ensure stable, reliable operations.
• Provide ongoing support across live and non-live environments, maintaining and improving SLAs and service quality.
• Perform proactive analysis of day-to-day work and drive automation to reduce repetitive/standardised tasks.
• Write Linux/UNIX scripts (e.g., shell / Perl / Python) to automate and streamline BAU activities.
• Advise on Unix/Linux design and best practices throughout project lifecycles (build, ITSA, implementation).
• Draft and maintain standards and procedures for capacity management; review SLA information to identify capacity risks and implement demand modifications with application teams.
• Assess, analyse, document and implement changes based on requests for change, translating functional/business requirements into technical specifications.
• Support incident troubleshooting and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve stability.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, support and engineering teams, providing consultancy and guidance.
