Software Development Engineer II, UFA

Remitly Poland sp. z o.o. builds financial products centered on remittances and cross-border money movement. The team is developing UFA (User Financial Accounts), a general-purpose platform serving as the source of truth for customer balances and foundational ledger primitives supporting wallets, credit products, and promotions under real banking regulation. Their focus includes building scalable, regulated financial platforms launched initially in the UK and expanding to the EU and UAE.

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Java, Kotlin, or Golang with experience building scalable, distributed systems.
• Experience running production cloud systems, particularly on AWS, including on-call rotation participation.
• Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and data-modeling trade-offs at scale.
• Good judgment regarding correctness and operational risks.
• Experience communicating updates and collaborating across time zones.
• B2+ level of English language proficiency.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Comfort using AI tools throughout the development lifecycle.

Nice to have:

• Experience in payments, fintech, or banking platforms related to ledger, wallet, or money movement.
• Experience with regulated or compliance-sensitive systems such as safeguarding, PCI scope, financial reporting.
• Experience building multi-tenant platform services or shared infrastructure.
• Experience working directly with external banking partners, card networks, or payment processors.
• Understanding of observability and operational excellence in financially critical systems.

• Build and help design core services and APIs that record, validate, and move customer money with correctness guarantees.
• Address distributed-systems problems such as consistency, atomicity, idempotency, and system behavior under partial failure.
• Help take new regulated markets live by translating licensing and safeguarding requirements into platform capabilities.
• Deliver work from technical design through production readiness within cross-team initiatives.
• Contribute to design decisions focusing on maintainability, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with partner teams and external banking and payment partners as needed.
• Participate in design and code reviews to improve team quality standards.
• Partner with Product and Operations teams to clarify requirements, assess risks, and ensure realistic delivery plans.
