Software Development Engineer II, UFA

Remitly Poland sp. z o.o. builds products facilitating global financial transactions, including remittances, wallets, safeguarded fiat accounts, credit, and lending products. The role focuses on the UFA (User Financial Accounts) platform, the source of truth for customer balances underpinning various financial services, launching initially in the UK and expanding to the EU and UAE.

• 3+ years professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Golang, with scalable distributed systems experience.
• Experience operating production systems in cloud environments, especially AWS.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and data modeling trade-offs.
• Strong sense of correctness, operational risk awareness.
• Ability to communicate effectively across time zones; fluent in English (B2+).
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Comfortable using AI tools in the development lifecycle.

Nice to have:

• Experience in payments, fintech, or banking platforms.
• Familiarity with regulated or compliance-sensitive systems.
• Experience with multi-tenant platform services or shared infrastructure.
• Experience working directly with external banking partners, card networks, or payment processors.
• Understanding of observability and operational excellence where downtime impacts finances.

• Build and design core services and APIs for the UFA platform ensuring correctness and consistency.
• Solve distributed-systems problems including consistency, atomicity, idempotency, and failure handling.
• Support launching new regulated markets like the UK, EU, and UAE by implementing licensing and safeguarding requirements.
• Deliver features from technical design through production readiness and cross-team initiatives.
• Participate in design decisions prioritizing maintainability, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with partner teams and external banking/payment partners.
• Conduct design and code reviews to improve team quality.
• Work with Product and Operations to clarify requirements, manage risks, and deliver plans.
