Senior Business Intelligence (Power BI) Engineer

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Power BI in enterprise environments involving large semantic models and complex requirements.
• Deep, hands-on expertise with Power BI including semantic model design and optimization, DAX, RLS, perspectives, and model internals.
• Proven experience building and maintaining very large semantic models meeting demanding performance and governance standards.
• Solid experience with Databricks at the data platform level.
• Mature Git practices in large projects, including CI/CD pipelines, release management, automated branching and merging, and branching model awareness (e.g., GitFlow).
• General knowledge of Azure cloud infrastructure relevant to BI and data platform delivery.
• Hybrid mindset across BI, data, and DevOps covering the full solution lifecycle.
• Strong communication skills for engagement with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Fluent English for effective collaboration across international teams.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Power BI Deployment Pipelines and XMLA endpoints.
• Familiarity with Tabular Editor or similar model authoring tools.
• Knowledge of dataflow and lakehouse patterns in the Microsoft Fabric / Power BI ecosystem.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for BI-specific pipelines.
• Exposure to dbt or similar data transformation tooling upstream of the semantic layer.

• Designing, building, and maintaining large-scale Power BI semantic models with attention to performance, correctness, and maintainability.
• Implementing advanced model features such as Row-Level Security (RLS), perspectives, calculation groups, and model internals optimization.
• Working with Databricks as the underlying data platform for querying, integration, and data preparation.
• Managing Power BI solutions through Git, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated branching and merging strategies, and release management.
• Applying and adapting branching models appropriate to enterprise BI workflows.
• Working within Azure cloud infrastructure to support deployment, access management, and integration of BI assets.
• Collaborating with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into semantic layer solutions.
• Contributing to standards, documentation, and best practices for BI development and release processes.
• Leveraging AI tools in day-to-day work to enhance productivity and output quality.
