AI Product Engineer (NY)

Code & Pepper supports clients in demanding industries, helping them scale teams and build advanced digital products. The team works on innovative technology projects internationally, including a digital health platform that uses AI to aid addiction treatment and improve mental health through medical voice assistants.

• Legal work authorization in the USA without visa sponsorship (citizenship, Green Card, or valid visa).
• Location in the New York area with hybrid work schedule (minimum 3 days per week in Manhattan office).
• Advanced knowledge of TypeScript and production Node.js environment.
• Practical full-stack experience including API development, microservices design, cloud integrations, and data management.
• Proficiency in AI-augmented development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot).
• End-to-end approach: ability to define business problems, design architecture, and own product delivery.
• Focus on software quality in a regulated environment: writing tests, ensuring observability and code reliability.
• Experience working with medical software (healthcare, digital health) and high-security systems.
• Practical knowledge of AWS serverless architecture and event-driven systems.
• Skill in designing relational databases and working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Nice to have:

• Understanding of product analytics and experimentation tools.

• Take ownership of the system from discovery phase to production deployment.
• Design secure and scalable infrastructure for a regulated medical environment.
• Develop APIs, design microservices, integrate with cloud services, and manage data.
• Use AI-augmented development tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot daily for implementation, testing, and code review.
• Define business problems, design architecture, and take responsibility for the final product.
• Write tests and ensure observability and reliability of the code.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and clinical expert teams at technical and business levels.
