Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Acquisition)

Affirm is a company reinventing credit to be more honest and friendly, enabling consumers to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. The role is within the Card Acquisition team, which is part of the Consumer organization, focusing on the initial customer experience with Affirm.

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to define technical plans with elegant, simple, and extensible designs and write high-quality, understandable code.
• Proficiency in making significant changes in large codebases with tools and practices to ensure safety.
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective global collaboration.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve complex problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to support the product development lifecycle.
• Identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Manage team operations including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting for on-call support.
• Set or improve code review and design standards within the team and advocate them externally through writing and tech talks.
• Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent on the team.
• Participate in an on-call rotation as a requirement.

This job is remote within Poland; the majority of roles can be located anywhere in Poland. There is an on-call rotation requirement. The job description is not a contractual document and does not have binding force.
