IT System Engineer - Backup

The Group Technology Services (GTS) at Euroclear plans, builds, and runs the global IT infrastructure supporting financial market operations, focusing on IT service management and disaster recovery. The Virtual Infrastructure Services team delivers innovative virtualized computing services via converged and hyper-converged infrastructures. This role is within the Infrastructure Services team, responsible for the management, support, and evolution of the Cohesity Backup platform, storage solutions, and archiving solutions in a 24/7 production environment.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in service engineering or service operations.
• At least 2 years experience with the Cohesity Backup platform in large IT environments.
• Excellent knowledge of backup platforms and strong understanding of backup/restore testing compliant with DORA requirements.
• Solid hands-on knowledge of backup and restore processes including audit and compliance.
• At least 2 years experience with storage solutions such as S3 and file solutions in large environments.
• Good knowledge managing Nutanix and/or VMware virtualization environments.
• Experience with hyperconverged and/or converged infrastructures.
• Passionate about automation and DevOps.
• Knowledge and experience with Ansible, Tower, PowerShell, or Terraform.
• Experience with storage infrastructure management is a plus.

Additionally:

• Fluent in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.

• Act as technical authority and domain owner for backup and data protection services.
• Install, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure technologies ensuring up-to-date software and hardware.
• Develop solutions based on business and technical requirements.
• Develop architecture and design of projects.
• Build effective relationships with other IT experts.
• Implement system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and audits.
• Collaborate with development and IT teams, maintaining system documentation.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure security best practices, including patch management and vulnerability assessments.
• Support automation of recurrent activities and harmonize existing automation developments.
• Participate in day-to-day service support including incident, alert, and change management.
• Provide on-call support during out-of-business hours (24/7 watch duty).
• Participate in disaster recovery management for virtual infrastructure.
• Offer consulting services to OS teams, projects, and customers.
• Support the private cloud strategy.
• Mentor engineers and act as escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Coordinate with Product Owner, Solution Architects, and other teams/tribes.
